The highlander takes you to the magnificent Victoria golf and country resort situated amidst the scenic Kandyan hills. The challenging 18-hole golf course her has been voted ‘best course in Asia 2005’ and ranked in the ‘top 100 most beautiful courses’. From Kandy you journey to Nuwara Eliya for a testing round of golf before local sight seeing and dance show.

Description

Day 1 – 3
Upon touching down in Colombo, immediately transfer onto the Air Taxi which flies in directly to Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Kandy. This is a breathtaking flight that lands on the Victoria reservoir. It is therefore possible to be on the 1st tee within 1 hour of landing in Sri Lanka. The surrounding reservoir and central hills are ideal for bird watching and mountain bike trails also provide much adventure. Visit the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined and Peradeniya Botanical gardens, with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees before an evening Kandyan dance show.

Day 4 – 6
Early morning, head to the hill country town of Nuwara Eliya where you will stay the next three nights near the golf club. Nuwara Eliya was made into a summer retreat by the British in the early 1800s and much of its colonial character still remains. Spend two days golfing at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. The testing course here was built by a Scottish soldier of the Golan Highlanders in 1889 for the British serviceman and officials stationed here in 1889. Occasionally you may even feel you are playing golf in Scotland. To ensure a successful round you will need to stay clear of the trees that line the tight course, the crags and creeks that bisect the fairways and the remorseless gorse and bunkers that protect the greens. The clubhouse and bar is an atmospheric place to enjoy a drink and meal after your round.

Day 7
Today you head back to the capital city of Colombo for your final night. Experience Colombo’s colonial architecture with a visit to the Fort – a three mile long rampart originally built in the sixteenth century by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British. Here, many of the old colonial buildings jostle for attention with the rest of Colombo’s modern skyline.

Day 8
Tour ends – transfer to airport – return home or onward travel.
