Description

Day 1
Arrive at Colombo airport and transfer by a private car to the hotel in Yapahuwa for a 2 night stay. After lunch, visit the ruins of the rock fortress complex of Yapahuwa. It served as the capital of Sri Lanka in the latter part of the 13th century. Built on a huge, 90m high rock boulder in the style of the Sigiriya rock fortress, Yapahuwa was a palace and military stronghold against foreign invaders.

Enjoy a full-body Ayurveda Treatment at the hotel. A traditional pulse diagnosis is conducted before starting the treatment to establish your type of constitution. The interaction of the Ayurveda treatments, Ayurveda medication and Ayurveda diet leads to healing purification and detoxification of the body.

It has been a sacred pilgrimage site for the last 22 centuries and is a cave monastery with 5 caverns and is the largest, best preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. Afterwards leave for Hiriwadunna and take a bullock cart ride, boat ride and a short nature trail walk. Continue to Polonnaruwa, home to one of the ruins of ancient Ceylon – an ancient city, enclosed by walls and housing palaces, shrines, monasteries, parks and ponds. Overnight stay in Polonnaruwa.
