Start by sightseeing in Kathmandu before walking a lesser known, but equally challenging trek through villages, alongside rivers, in 2 national parks, over a high pass (4610m) via a holy lake and the ascent of Tsergo Ri (4984) before returning to Kathmandu.

Description

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer by private car to a 3* hotel and relax. Relax in hotel or OPTIONAL walk around Thamel and Garden of Dreams near the Royal Palace. Trek briefing.

Day 2
Sightseeing in Kathmandu – Monkey Temple, Bodnath Stupa, Ghats at Pashupatinath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and any last minute shopping before the trek starts.

Day 3
An early start today as we drive to the Trisuli area stopping for tea on the way. A twisty road with good views of the farming landscape, steep sided valleys and rivers as we drive through the villages. Lunch and overnight stay in Trisuli or Nuwakot. OPTIONAL visit to Nuwakot village and temples.

Day 4
Continue the drive to Dhunche, the starting point of our trek. We follow the Trisuli River seeing the dam, farmers and local life as we drive through village. Arrive in Dhunche and stay at a tea house / basic hotel. Afternoon free to walk around the villages.

Day 5
Starting our trek today, we walk along the road and through a village before crossing the river and heading up in to the rhododendron and conifer woodland meeting some of the local farmers on the way. Stop for lunch at a tea house. The walk continues through farmland, woodland and up Nepali steps to our overnight stay at Thulo Syaphru. Arrive mid afternoon, relax or take a walk around the village and enjoy the views and acclimatise (2200m).

Day 6
Start the walk by going down lots of steps to the bridge and then down more steps to the river. Stop at a tea house for a drink before walking up through woodland and arriving at our lunch stop. A steady climb up steps after lunch takes us to our overnight stay at Lama Hotel at 2420m. Arrive mid afternoon and relax.

Day 7
Continue walking up alongside the Langtang River and hope to get your first views of some high peaks and stop at a tea house for a drink. Have lunch in a tea house at 3008m at Ghoda Tabela just by the Langtang National Park Check Point. Continue through farm and woodland before getting to the Mani wall at the entrance to Langtang village for an overnight stay at 3330m.

Day 8
A short walk today, about 3 hours, passing lots of Mani walls, villages and seeing the locals. Weather permitting you should see Langtang II, Tsergo Ri, Kangja La and more mountain peaks. Arrive at the tea house at Gyanjin Gompa, 3800m, where we are staying for 2 nights and relax before lunch. In the afternoon walk to the cheese factory, monastery and to the glacier.

Day 9
An early start today, 6am, as we plan to ascend Tsergo Ri at 4984m (weather permitting) which takes 3 – 4 hours. Walk alongside the river before starting the ascent on the stony path and following the ridge to the summit. The effort is worth it for the great views of the Langtang Valley from the summit. Return to the tea house to relax and have supper.

Day 10
Our walk today, retraces our route as we return to the Lama Hotel at 2420m. Enjoy the river and mountain scenery as you walk through the villages and farmland meeting the locals along the way. Stop for lunch near
the National Park exit. Hope to arrive at Lama Hotel mid afternoon.

Day 11
Today we return to Thulo Syaphru at 2200m with a walk down through woodland, stopping for looking for wildlife (monkeys can sometimes be seen along this route), meeting porters carrying supplies to the tea houses and a few other trekkers. After a long descent, we stop for lunch before the steep walk back in to the village through the agricultural landscape. Overnight in a tea house in the village.

Day 12
A morning of walking up hill out of the village, passing the school, monastery, stupas and a police check point. Look back down in to the Langtang Valley and see the village you stayed in before having a morning tea stop. Continue walking up through woodland to the lunch stop at Danda, 3210m. Weather permitting you should see towards Langtang, the high pass above Gosinkunda and down to Dunche. An easy walk after lunch takes you through wood and farmland to the tea house at Chandanbari (Sing Gompa), 3250m. Arrive mid afternoon and visit the cheese factory and relax.

Day 13
Continue walking up hill today at a gentle pace through woodland before the landscape opens out for views of Langtang II and other high peaks. Stop for tea before the steep ascent to Laurebina at 3900m. Arrive in time for lunch. The rest of the day can be spent relaxing at this tea house or take a walk up a little higher to enjoy the views and acclimatise more.

Day 14
Weather permitting, enjoy the sunrise and possibly see Fish Tail Peak and Annapurna II nearly 200 miles away! A steep climb to the stupa at 4250m with great views on the way before contouring on the mountain path to the Holy Lake at Gosainkunda and a tea house for an overnight stay at 4380m. Afternoon free to relax – take a walk around the lake, see the temple and enjoy the scenery.

Day 15
Leaving the tea house behind us, we continue up hill today, passing several small lakes on the way before getting to the prayer flags on top of the high pass at 4610m. A long descent the other side, about 1000m, for lunch. A short walk in the afternoon, mainly contouring the hill side takes you to a very basic tea house for your overnight stay.

Day 16
The walk continues through woodland and over rocks before a short, but steep ascent to a tea stop at Tharepati (3510m). Fairly level ground through woods and bushes before looking down in to the Nuwakot Valley. We descend to our lunch stop through the woodland and Nepali steps. A short up hill walk before another descent of 800m to the tea house at Kutumsang (2470m).

Day 17
A walk of “Nepali flat”(undulating ground!) through woodland, with distant mountain views. Look at the farmland and stop and talk with the locals before going down in to a village. Up again and in to woodland for a gentle walk to the lunch stop. Through more villages and farmland before arriving at Chisapani (2215m) for an overnight stay.

Day 18
The final day of walking – a short climb to the check post for Shivapuri National Park and then level ground before an ascent to Borlang Bhanjuang at 2420m. You now see the views of Kathmandu before continuing down through villages to the park entrance gate and to the road in Sundarijal where you will be met by your private car. Lunch in a tea house before returning to a 3* hotel in Kathmandu. OPTIONAL dinner at Rum Doodle restaurant.

Day 19
Free day in Kathmandu – OPTIONAL Everest Flight and sightseeing.

Day 20
Tour ends – transfer to airport – Return home or onward travel.
