A camping or lodge-based wildlife trip, in the shadow of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya. Visit the beautiful Amboseli National Park with its herds of elephants, take a boat trip on Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley, walk in Hell’s Gate National Park, visit the Mau Mau Caves and end your trip in the superb Lake Nakuru National Park home to white rhino and many species of birds.

Description

Day 1
Upon arrival at the international airport in Nairobi, you will be met by your English speaking guide who will travel with you for the duration on your trip.  Check in to your hotel and relax for the remainder of the day

Day 2
Early in the morning, depart from the hotel and head south, directly to Amboseli National Park, boarding Tanzania and in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro – the highest free standing mountain in the world at 5895m.  Arrive in time for lunch and settle in to where you will be staying for the next 2 nights.  Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park, looking for elephants, hippos, birds and mammals

Day 3
An all-day safari in the park with lunch on top of Observation Hill.  View many animals including impala, Thompson’s gazelle, giraffe, zebra, elephants and monkey as well as several species of birds

Day 4
Today you leave for Lake Naivasha in the Rift Valley with towering cliffs, stunning scenery and gorges.  The lake is one of a series of large freshwater lakes in the valley and is a well- known area for growing flowers for exporting.  In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the lake

Day 5
Head in to Hells Gate National park, either by bike or jeep, to get up close and personal with the animals.  Continue with a hike in the park before returning to your accommodation

Day 6
Leaving Lake Naivasha behind you, head towards Mount Kenya, crossing the equator near Nanyuki.  Check in to your accommodation and have the remainder of the day to relax

Day 7
Spend today walking in the slopes of Mount Kenya, the 2nd highest mountain in Africa at 5199m, it is also a UNESCO world heritage and biosphere reserve.  You can choose to do a half day trek to the Mau Mau Caves which were used as a hide-out by Kenyan Freedom Fighters during the Mau Mau Uprising of 1952 – 1960 or a full day trek in the foothills of Mount Kenya

Day 8
After breakfast, drive to Nyahururu and visit the stunning Thompson’s Waterfalls.  Continue the journey to a working farm on the outskirts of Nauru where you spend the night

Day 9
Morning walk around Kembu Farm before driving to Nakuru National Park.  Enjoy a game drive on the way to the camp or lodge in the middle of the park

Day 10
Start early for a game drive to look for white rhino and other mammals.  Nakuru used to be home to thousands of pink flamingos but due to high rainfall in the last 3 years, which has increased the depth of the water, they are now few and far between.  However, there are about 400 other species of birds visiting the lake.  Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before driving back to Nairobi

Day 11
Tour ends – transfer to airport – return home or onward travel.
