Description
Day 1
Arrive at Nariobi airport and meet up with your local guide who will travel with you for the duration of your time in Kenya. Transfer to your hotel in Nairobi and relax for the remainder of the day. Depending on your flight arrival time, OPTIONAL afternoon sightseeing around the city is available which includes a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum and the Giraffe center, where you will have the opportunity to visit the education center and hand feed the giraffes. Dinner and overnight at a Nairobi Safari Club Hotel.
Day 2
After an early breakfast drive south to Amboseli National Park arriving in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive amongst large herds of elephants and other animals of the open plains including giraffe, many species of antelope and zebra. Hippos can often be seen wallowing in the pools along with plenty of birds. The landscape of the park is dominated by the world’s highest freestanding mountain, (not in a mountain range), Mount Kilimanjaro, which is just over the border in Tanzania. Dinner and overnight at Kibo/Sentrim Tented Camp.
Day 3
Early morning game drive looking for more wildlife before returning to the lodge for breakfast. The remainder of the morning is spent relaxing by the pool or an OPTIONAL visit to the Masai cultural village or walk to Observation Hill. Afternoon safari drive around the swamps fed by the melting snow of Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at the Kibo/Sentrim Tented Camp.
Day 4
After an early breakfast, leave Amboseli and drive north, crossing the Equator, to the Mount Kenya region arriving for lunch at the “Tree Hotel” built deep in the Mount Kenya forests. The remainder of the day is free to relax before dinner. Watch wildlife gathering at the floodlight waterhole throughout the night from the comfort of your room. Dinner and overnight at the Ark Lodge.
Day 5
After breakfast continue north to Samburu / Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, arriving at your lodge, which is set up along the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. This area is home to the rare and beautiful Grevvy zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk gazelle and the Somali ostrich. Elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and many of the savannah mammals are also found here. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge
Day 6
Morning and afternoon game drive in Samburu National Park with an OPTIONAL visit to the Samburu cultural village. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge.
Day 7
After breakfast, continue the journey, crossing the equator, stopping for scenic views and photography before arriving at the Sweetwaters Game Ranch in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Serena Sweetwaters Camp.
Day 8
Drive via the Thompson falls stopping for the view and photography, then down the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving for lunch. Afternoon game drive, searching for rhino and plenty of birds. Dinner and overnight at Elementaita Sentrim Lodge.
DAY 9
Depart to Lake Naivasha for one-hour boat ride (OPTIONAL) then drive to the lodge for lunch. Dinner and overnight at Elsamere Lodge. OPTIONAL visit to Joy Adamson’s old home alongside the lake for afternoon tea in the garden.
Day 10
After breakfast drive via Narok town to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive in search of lions, elephants, various antelope, leopards and many more mammals and birds. Return to camp for dinner and overnight at Ilkeliani Camp.
Day 11
A full day spent in the Masai Mara enjoying game drives, lunch under an acacia tree and a walk alongside the Mara River to see the hippos and crocodiles before returning to camp for dinner and overnight at Ilkeliani Camp.
Day 12
OPTIONAL early morning balloon flight over the Masai Mara or an included jeep safari before a final afternoon game drive with dinner and overnight stay at Ilkeliani Camp.
Day 13
Drive to Nairobi in time for lunch at the Carnivore restaurant. Transfer to hotel for overnight stay at the Nariobi Safari Club Hotel or departure from the international airport – tour ends.
