Description

Day 1
Arrive in Delhi and transfer by private car to a hotel to wash and eat before going to the domestic airport. Fly to Calcutta, transfer to hotel and relax.

Day 2 & 3
Sightseeing in Calcutta – Victoria Memorial, Botanical Gardens, flower market, Black Hole, Mother Teresa’s hospital, temples and bridges. Overnight train to Siliguri Junction.

Day 4
Drive through tea plantations and alongside Toy Train track to the start of the Singalila Bird Trek

Day 5 – 9
Singalila Bird Trek on the India / Nepal border staying in Tea Houses and fully supported by local transport. Weather permitting we hope to see some of the world’s highest peaks including Everest. Return to Darjeeling by road.

Day 10
Sightseeing in Darjeeling – tea plantations, Buddhist Monastery, zoo and mountain museum, Toy Train and Tensing Norgay’s home. (1st person to summit Everest with Sir Edmond Hillary)

Day 11 – 15
Transfer by road to West Sikkim and sightseeing (tea plantations, monasteries, landscape and villages) – exiting via East Sikkim. Transfer to Gangtok airport to Delhi.

Day 16
Sightseeing in Old and New Delhi.

Day 17
Tour ends – transfer to airport – return home or onward travel.
