Description

Day 1
Arrive at Colombo airport and drive the short distance in a private car to the coastal fishing village of Negombo. Check in to hotel for overnight stay. OPTIONAL visit to the harbour, Dutch churches, enjoy the beach or even take a boat ride along the Dutch Canals (subject to availability and time).

Day 2
Leave Negombo and drive approx 2 hours to the small town of Kitulgala, that is perched on top of the hills that slope down to the flowing waters of the Kelani River, for 2 nights camping. The afternoon is free to relax or take an OPTIONAL walk, go bird watching or enjoy photography.

Day 3
Kitulgala is steadily becoming the adrenaline sports capital of Sri Lanka and today is spent on the Kelani River, both white water rafting and waterfall abseiling. Return to camp.

Day 4
Drive to the Knuckles Forest Reserve, approx 2 hours. The Knuckles Mountain range exists as a unique ecosystem separate from the rest of the central hills. The afternoon is free to relax, walk, bird watch or to take in the scenery. Overnight camping in Knuckles.

Day 5
After breakfast drive to Ella and en route visit the heart of “Tea Country”, NywaraEliya and enjoy the sites and visit a tea plantation and factory. Continue on to Ella, a little village surrounded by high mountains and views of the Central Hills. It is famous for the Ella Gap – a gap in the mountains where you can (on a clear day) see all the way to the ocean. 3 nights camping in Ella.

Day 6
A full day of OPTIONAL activities – walking in the surrounding countryside for scenery and waterfalls, tea plantations and temples, cycling (subject to availability) or even aerial and monkey ropes.

Day 7
More time for OPTIONAL walks and activities – maybe walk to Little Adam’s Peak or Ella Rock or even visit a cave. Look for more waterfalls, take more photos and enjoy Sri Lankan tea.

Day 8
Leave after breakfast for a return journey to Negombo and to do some OPTIONAL sightseeing around the village. Enjoy the beaches and seafood. Overnight stay in a hotel in Negombo.

Day 9
Tour ends – transfer to airport – return home or onward travel.
